OUR MISSION STATMENT:

"To provide the highest quality of life achievable through the utilization of competent interdisciplinary care."

The land that Saginaw Geriatrics Home is built on was originally owned by J.W. Fordney. On this location, sat the J.W. Fordney mansion. In 1953, the mansion was torn down and St. Peter and Paul School was built in its place. The school was then converted into the Saginaw Geriatrics Home that had been located on the corner of Holland and Howard streets and was maintained there for several years as pictured above.

Saginaw Geriatrics Home is owned and funded through a partnership of six doctors. It also accepts private funds and donations which are included in the operation of the facility.

Saginaw Geriatrics Home will provide the highest quality of life achievable through the utilization of competent interdisciplinary care. In doing this, we encourage progressive treatment with the intention of restoring a persons health. When this is unrealistic, staff provides care that will maintain a practical level of independence. Dignity and respect for our residents is a philosophy not only of the facility, but also of each staff member.

There are currently 138 employees at Saginaw Geriatrics Home. The staff consists of an interdisciplinary care team made up of several departments. We operate on a 24 hour basis with licensed personnel on each shift. Saginaw Geriatrics Home is always looking for people who are willing to volunteer their time, whether it is a few minutes or a few hours. The extra help given by our volunteers are invaluable.

Various contracted services are offered within the facility. Under the supervision of a registered physical therapist, physical and maintenance therapy is provided. Other service provided include speech and occupational therapy, dental, optometry, podiatry care, pharmacy, radiology and laboratory services. If families are unable to provide transportation to ancillary services, we are able to arrange for appropriate transportation for a fee. A licensed beautician and barber also offer their services to residents for a nominal fee.

Residents may be admitted through family or physician referrals, hospitals, or transfers from other nursing homes. Our Social Worker works closely with the Department of Social Services and the Social Security Administration, so that Medicare, Medicaid, and SSI paperwork can be initiated prior to admission.

Feel free to contact us for a tour of our facility!
